Historical Development

In June 1998, challenged by the intense poverty situation in Talomo, the lay leaders with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel D. Cifra, of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish decided and volunteered themselves to set up a Foundation that would respond to the social and economic needs of Parishioners.

They obtained the SEC registration on September 4, 1998 under the name of San Lorenzo Ruiz Socio-Economic Development Foundation, Inc (SALORDEDFI).

On March 15, 2001 the late Mr. Marianito Gentallan, Executive Director of SALORSEDFI from 1999-2001, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the President of Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), Dra. Ma. Iris Melliza, Ph.D. to give birth to the Bright Horizon Learning Center.

And on July 16, 2002, the school name Bright Horizon Learning Center (BHLC) was changed to Foundation School of San Lorenzo Ruiz, Inc. (FSSLRI) and was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on September 19, 2002.

FSSLRI was a necessary result of partnership between the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) and San Lorenzo Ruiz Socio-Economic Development Foundation, Inc (SALORSEDFI).

On October 14, 2002, the Department of Education, Region XI had issued a government permit to operate a Kindergarten course for the school year 2002-2003. To accommodate its growing student population, FSSLRI transferred to a new school site near PLDT Village Ulas, Talomo, Davao City in school year 2006-2007. On May 4, 2007, FSSLRI was granted authority to operate Grade VI level to complete its elementary department.

School Year 2008-2009 is a significant year in the history of this academic institution as it has new name SAN LORENZO COLLEGE OF DAVAO, INC. (SLCD) as approved by SEC on February 2, 2008.

School Year 2011 is a significant year because the Pre-school to Grade school has granted its Government Recognition No. 004 s.2011 & 2012, the High School department has granted its Government Recognition No. 02, s.2012.
